Emergency Dentistry in Phoenix, AZ

Like medical emergencies, dental emergencies can be scary. They can also happen at any time. Unfortunately, since most people don’t expect to need emergency dentistry services, they are often unprepared for these situations. Therefore, it’s essential to know what to do if you require emergency dentistry.

A dental emergency requires getting proper services immediately. Postponing treatment can result in life-threatening circumstances. To avoid this, it’s best to be prepared and understand how to get help from our dentists. If you are experiencing symptoms that require emergency dentistry, We Care Dental is available for help. We serve patients from all over The Valley.

Dental Emergencies

A dental emergency requires immediate treatment to avoid potentially life-threatening circumstances, including excessive, unstoppable bleeding and/or compromised breathing. Severe tooth or jaw pain, moderate oral swelling, or loss of any permanent teeth can feel like dental emergencies. These situations certainly require urgent dental care but are often not life-threatening.

Some patients are more at risk than others for dental emergencies. For example, patients who have had recent oral surgery suffered an oral bacterial infection or experienced an injury to the head or jaw area are at greater risk for severe complications to their oral health.

In general, there are three conditions that constitute a dental emergency:

  • Excessive oral bleeding that cannot be controlled or stopped
  • Trauma or injury to head or jaw that impacts or potentially blocks the airway
  • Swelling inside or outside the mouth due to infection that impacts or potentially blocks the airway

If any oral symptoms are present that include uncontrolled bleeding or compromised breathing, call our dentists immediately for emergency services. Urgent dental symptoms should be addressed as soon as possible. However, life-threatening conditions should result in immediate emergency treatment.
