Meet the Doctor

Stephen A. Folson, DDS, MS, is a board-certified periodontist and dental implant surgeon with more than 40 years of clinical experience. Dr. Folson received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from Loyola University Chicago in 1979 and went on to complete a General Practice Residency at the VA Medical Center partnered with the University of Michigan. He later returned to Loyola for a two-year residency in periodontics, completing the program in 1982 with both a specialty certificate and a Master of Science degree. Dr. Folson has been a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology since 1988.

For nearly four decades, Dr. Folson led a successful periodontal and implant practice in Peoria–Sun City, Arizona, before establishing an independent practice in 2020. In 2023, he joined We Care Dental, where he collaborates with a skilled team to deliver patient-centered care focused on preserving natural teeth, restoring gum health, and supporting long-term oral wellness. His clinical expertise includes dental implant placement, bone grafting, surgical crown lengthening, gum grafting, and the treatment of periodontitis and peri-implantitis. He is also experienced in oral pathology evaluation and biopsy coordination.

Originally from Grand Forks, North Dakota, Dr. Folson and his wife, Gretchen, enjoy spending time with their grown children, traveling, gardening, movies, and cruises. They share their home with a lively wire fox terrier, Finnegan.
